Don’t rein in your outlines

Most of us love our black inks. I have seven black pads myself: Memento, Memento Dewdrop, Brilliance, ColorBox, Versafine, Versacraft and Tim Holtz Distress.  Show that list to any other long time stamper and I’ll bet they’ll nod and say, “Oh, yeah. Me, too.” The list contains pigment ink , dye ink, oil-based ink and solvent ink. Even the two dye inks (Memento and Distress) are different as I’ve mentioned before.  Every kind of black you’ll ever need in order to create an image that you can color in later.

But have you ever considered not using black for that?

The image on the left was stamped with Memento London Fog and the right with Memento Espresso Truffle. I like how these look and I will pair my colored pencil choices to go with the ink I stamped them with.

So break out all of your inks and use them. You’ll be surprised how much you like some of the results.
